So(u)l Recovery Counseling

My name is Mosaico Marielena Ocampo and I am a Trilingual (English/Spanish/French) trans person (agender, no pronouns), who is neurodivergent (ADHD/Autism), chronically ill, Latine, and in long-term recovery from addiction. I am a spiritual person, specifically I believe God is Unconditional Love.

I was born on Caddo and Wichita nation lands (Dallas), Texas and have grown up in the surrounding area. My spirit is not tied to this land, it is tied to my sister and nieces who live on this land.

My family history is represented by both the colonizer and the colonized. My indigenous side is represented by the Balsas River Basin – West Guerrero and the Northern Mexican Plateau. My colonizer side is from Spain/Portugal. I claim both of these ancestors, albeit I have different relationships to them, because they are both a part of me and my story.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in advocacy organizations. I was inspired to become a therapist because mental health systems and 12-step programs, imperfect as they were, helped me survive the painful challenges related to the prior mentioned identities. I also was called to healing because I saw how abuse and rupture permeated organizing relationships and efforts. I sensed the need for skills that could repair and help folks heal the trauma cycles that permitted and fostered abusive practices, so I decided to go back to school and become what I believe we needed.

Today, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate supervised by Kimberly Harkey, MEd, LPC-S. I am inspired by Internal Family Systems and Play Therapy, and also use EMDR and expressive arts.

I am also a business owner, community organizer, political strategist, salsa and bachata dancer, singer, Tix, dog parent, Tejanx, dreamer and creator obsessed with creating the conditions for unconditional love, curiosity, compassion, depth, and play to thrive in every person, relationship, and environment.
